IRIS Affiliates and Team win Research Awards

This past week, the University of Georgia’s Office of Research announced the winners of the 43rd annual Research Awards. Sponsored by the University of Georgia Research Foundation, the awards recognize UGA faculty, postdoctoral researchers and graduate students for excellence and innovation in research, scholarly creativity, technology commercialization and entrepreneurship.

IRIS had several faculty members recognized, and one full IRIS team, including James E. “Jeb” Byers, from the Odum School of Ecology, who received the Lamar Dodd Creative Research Award, Amy Rosemond from the Odum School of Ecology, who was recognized as a Distinguished Research Professor, and Team RISE (or Resilient Infrastructure for Sustainability and Equity), which received the Team Impact Award and includes Brian Bledsoe, Jon Calabria, Shana Jones, Don Nelson, J. The RISE team produces fundamental research on next generation infrastructure and systems with emphasis on vulnerable communities connected with important assets, including critical transportation infrastructure, military installations, ports and urban systems (e.g., water, wastewater, solid waste systems).
